Partner Notifications allow you to pair participants together and trigger automated notifications to a partner based on a participant's survey responses. This is highly effective for accountability studies, safety check-ins, or real-time partner alerts (such as sober-partner breathalyzer alerts).
Here is how to configure partners, set up automated messaging actions, and test the system.
1. Linking Partners
Partners are configured individually from your project's Admin panel.
Navigate to the Participant: Go to the Admin page of your project and locate the User Participation section at the bottom.
Assign a Partner: Click the Partner dropdown menu. You will see a list of all other participants currently enrolled in the project.
Save: Select the desired partner. The system will automatically save the change to the profile, and a confirmation popup will appear.
Removing a Partner: If you need to unlink a pair, simply select "No Partner" from the dropdown.
⚠️ Important Note on Pairings: Selecting a partner for Participant A does not automatically assign Participant A as the partner for Participant B. If you want a mutual, two-way partner relationship, you must manually repeat this step for both accounts.
2. Configuring Partner Notifications in Surveys
You can set up notifications to trigger based on specific answers within a survey. This is configured on a per-question basis.
Supported Question Types:
Yes/No
Continuous Scale
BACtrack Breathalyzer
How to Setup the Trigger:
Open your survey builder and select or create one of the supported question types above.
Scroll to the bottom of the question creator and click Add Messaging Action.
Configure your trigger logic (e.g., If answer equals "Yes" or If BAC level is above 0.05).
Set the Action dropdown to Send Partner Notification.
Type your customized message and click Update.
